Who we recruit for in Auckland
Let’s be direct about who this page is for. If you run or hire for a manufacturing, engineering, processing or distribution business in Auckland, and you are tired of briefing a generalist agency that sends you the same shortlist it sent the last client, we are worth a conversation. If you need a receptionist by Monday, we are not the right fit and we will say so.
The southern industrial belt
East Tamaki, Highbrook, Penrose, Onehunga, Wiri and Manukau hold the densest concentration of manufacturing and logistics employers in New Zealand. Food and beverage plants, plastics, packaging, metal fabrication, machinery, and the 3PL warehouses that serve all of them. Frucor, one of the country’s best-known beverage manufacturers, is a client, alongside national brands like Pentair and Inghams.
The North Shore and the west
Albany, Rosedale, Henderson and Avondale have a different mix: technology-led manufacturing, engineering consultancies and head offices of businesses whose plants are somewhere else. The roles here skew towards engineering managers, technical leads, finance and commercial positions.
Franklin and the south
Pukekohe and Drury sit where Auckland meets the Waikato, and employers here draw candidates from both. It is a corridor we know unusually well, because we recruit on both sides of it every week.
Roles we fill in Auckland
We recruit at the senior and intermediate specialist level only. Across Auckland that means roles like:
- Operations managers, plant managers, production managers and continuous improvement leads
- Engineering managers, automation and controls engineers, mechanical, electrical, process and maintenance engineers
- Supply chain managers, demand and supply planners, procurement managers, logistics and distribution centre managers
- Quality managers, technical and compliance managers, H&S managers, R&D and product development engineers
- Financial controllers, finance managers and manufacturing accountants
- Business development managers and sales managers selling industrial products
Every one of these maps to one of our six specialisations, which is deliberate. We would rather do a few things properly than everything averagely.
How we work with Auckland employers
RecruitNet is based in Hamilton. We are not going to pretend otherwise, and it matters less than you might think.
Search is not a local activity any more. The people who fill senior operations and engineering roles are found through networks, direct approaches and long relationships, not by being close to the office. Our network of more than 10,000 connections runs New Zealand-wide, and a large share of it lives and works in Auckland.
We come to you when it matters. The brief is best done on site, so we drive up. We will walk your floor, meet the leadership team and understand what the role really needs to fix. Final interviews are in person too if you want us in the room. Everything in between, screening, reference checks, shortlist reviews and offer management, happens by phone and video, which is how most Auckland hiring managers already work.
We see the whole upper North Island as one market. That is our edge over Auckland-only agencies. Plenty of excellent engineers, planners and finance people are ready to leave Auckland for Hamilton or Tauranga, and plenty of Waikato people would move to Auckland for the right role. We already know both groups. When your search stalls in the local pool, we widen it without missing a beat.
The process itself is the same structured approach we use for every permanent, contract or executive appointment, and it ends with a post-placement follow-up, not an invoice.
For candidates in Auckland
If you are an operations, engineering, supply chain, technical, sales or finance professional in Auckland, we would like to hear from you, and not only for Auckland roles.
A growing number of the people we place are Aucklanders moving to the Waikato or the Bay of Plenty for shorter commutes, more affordable housing and a chance to run something rather than report on it. If that is on your mind, even vaguely, a confidential conversation with Brigitta is a low-pressure way to find out what is actually available. We also recruit Auckland-based roles for Auckland employers, and those go up on our job search page as they open.
The simplest first step is to submit your CV and tell us what you want next. We recruit by relationship, so being known to us before the role appears is the whole point.
Why RecruitNet for Auckland recruitment
Brigitta Warren has recruited technical and industrial roles for more than twenty years and founded RecruitNet in 2020. Over that career she has filled more than 1,850 roles for businesses across New Zealand, from the Howard Wright hospital-bed factory in New Plymouth to Escea in Dunedin. Auckland is a growing part of that.
What Auckland employers get from us is a specialist who knows the difference between a maintenance engineer and a reliability engineer, who will tell you when your salary band is wrong for the market, and who will not send a candidate she has not personally interviewed. Simon Cairns at Kliptank says we have “helped us successfully fill roles with very difficult to find talent for our very specific requirements.” That is the standard.
If you have a hard-to-fill role in Auckland, brief us. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit, and if we are, we will be on your site within the week.
