Who we recruit for in Tauranga
Everything in Tauranga connects back to the port. The Port of Tauranga is New Zealand’s largest, and the industrial land around it, from Mount Maunganui through Sulphur Point and out to the Tauriko Business Estate, is packed with the businesses that feed it: exporters, processors, freight and logistics operators, manufacturers and the engineering firms that keep all of it running.
That gives the Bay of Plenty a distinctive hiring profile. The roles we see most often are:
Port, freight and supply chain
Logistics managers, warehouse and distribution leads, supply planners and export coordinators. Tauranga has more of these roles per head than almost anywhere else in New Zealand, and the good people are well known to each other, which is exactly why a discreet search works better than an advert.
Horticulture and food processing
Kiwifruit, avocados and the packhouses, coolstores and post-harvest operators between Te Puke and Katikati. Seasonal peaks create a constant need for operations, quality and maintenance leaders who can scale a site up and down without losing control of it.
Manufacturing, agri-nutrients and engineering
Ballance Agri-Nutrients, headquartered at Mount Maunganui, and Lawter, with its Mount Maunganui plant, are both clients. Around them sit a wide range of manufacturers, fabricators and construction-products businesses, all competing for the same mechanical, electrical and process engineers.

How we work with Tauranga employers
We should be upfront: we are based in Hamilton, not Tauranga. For the roles we recruit that is an advantage more often than a limitation, and here is why.
We come over the Kaimais for the things that matter. The initial brief, a site walk-through and the final interviews happen in person. Tauranga is an easy morning’s drive and we make it regularly. Screening calls, updates and shortlist reviews happen by phone and video, which is how most of our Tauranga clients prefer it anyway.
We bring the Waikato and Auckland pools with us. Tauranga’s growth has outrun its candidate supply in engineering, supply chain and finance. Many of the people we place in the Bay are relocating from Hamilton or Auckland for the lifestyle, and we already know who they are. A recruiter who only searches locally will keep showing you the same names.
We are specialists, not generalists. Tauranga has a lot of recruitment agencies. Very few of them recruit only operations, supply chain, engineering, technical, sales and finance roles at the senior and intermediate level, which is all we do. Read about our permanent and executive search processes, or go straight to the brief.
For candidates in Tauranga
Tauranga is a place people move to and rarely leave, which means the senior roles turn over slowly and are competitive when they do. If you are a logistics, operations, engineering, quality or finance professional in the Bay of Plenty, it pays to be known to us before the role you want comes up.
Submit your CV and tell us what you are looking for, or check current roles. If you are employed and want to keep things quiet, a confidential conversation is the right starting point; we will never send your details anywhere without asking first.
Relocating to the Bay?
We regularly place Waikato and Auckland people into Tauranga and Mount Maunganui roles, and we know what the move involves: housing costs that have risen fast, a commute that is better than Auckland but busier than it used to be, and an industrial job market that rewards people who can lead a site through seasonal peaks. Ask us and we will give you the straight version.
Why RecruitNet for Tauranga recruitment
RecruitNet was founded in 2020 by Brigitta Warren, who has recruited in the upper North Island for more than twenty years. Over that career she has filled more than 1,850 roles, for businesses ranging from owner-operated engineering firms to national manufacturers, and the Bay of Plenty is a regular part of that work.
What clients notice first is the briefing. Bruce Moller, CEO of Howard Wright, put it this way after his company’s first search with us: Brigitta “made a point of understanding both our business and what made us tick before commencing on the recruitment process.” That is how we approach every Tauranga role too.
If you have a role in Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Te Puke or anywhere in the Bay of Plenty, brief us and we will come and see you.
